What do you know, here’s a remnant of Christmas—could not be more beautiful, more Christmasy—that just burst forth.
Our dear friend Linda gave us a Christmas gift of a waxen round bulb, purely naked—“It’s from Trader Joe—just put it some place with good light and it will bloom. Doesn’t need water.”
Yeah. Right. Hmmm…
Well I’ve been around the block with Christmas amaryllis…love them…but always I’ve sunk the bulb in a pot of soil. Watered it occasionally.
But this nekked guy sat on our side table in the living room for two months, minding its own business, not bothering nobody. I did set it in a special dish so it wouldn’t look, well, sad.
And then allofasudden two days ago look what happened! When I saw it, I did a double-take–my breath was taken away.
Just thought you’d appreciate seeing what can come of friendship, light, patience…and good faith…
So, friends, this Christmas season if you’re in TJ’s—or a comparable purveyor’s– and note a display of naked amaryllis bulbs, for heaven’s sake bring home half a dozen, as Linda did, disperse them to friends as gifts…
Without a jot of effort, you’ll be extending the Christmas season for them something gorgeous.
