I have.
It’s amazing.
Darn thing takes off—fed nothing but water, air, and light.
I had a couple of sweets in the veggie basket, one started sprouting. Nothing I had in mind to cook paired with sweets.
I remember the moment: from the kitchen I started down the hall to my study, then something—who knows what, who knows how the mind works, not me—seized me and I thought, Gosh! I’ll grow it as a vine.
Neatly cut the tuber at the point where it was sprouting, set the sprouting end in a glass, covered it with water, set it on the kitchen windowsill next to other tchotchkes. East—i.e., morning—light.
Next morning there were translucent threads of roots sprouted. Next morning, the roots had lengthened double.
Now the dear sweet has given us a handsome pair of vines—a yard long!
And all I’ve to do is add water to the top of the glass.
Go thou and do likewise?
Fun-and-a-half.
